Hello Stranger: Stepping Outside of Your Warm Market

Hi friends!

Today I'm going to touch on a topic that is very important in building your business. Although these things may be common sense, many aren't common practice. Let this article serve as a refresher. Whether your in direct sales or a traditional brick and mortar business, most of us began the same way- by presenting our services and products to our friends and family.

Just as a man can not survive off bread alone, your business can not survive with you remaining in your comfort zone. Our family and friends are meant to be practice as we familiarize ourselves with our the business. They've supported, encouraged/discouraged and served their purpose.

Now its time to kick it in to gear and begin focusing on taking your business to the next level. One thing I love about this company, 5LINX, is that you're in business for yourself, not by yourself! And if you're as hungry as I am, your ready to take it to the next level and we're going to do it together!

One of the most beneficial things I've learned, while practicing with my warm market, is that people don't buy products, they buy solutions. And that I'm not selling, I'm sharing! And if you understand those two concepts you will be well on your way to creating and sustaining your own momentum.

1.) People Don't Buy Products, They Buy Solutions

This highlight is two-fold, whether your acquiring business partners or customers both are seeking a solutions. To find out what the solution is for your prospect you have to do two things

I.) Ask
Wow, ladies and gentlemen do you see how simple your job is? Remember you are not a salesman. You are a consultant...you are helping someone solve an issue or a problem...you are offering a solution! And in order to find the solution you must first know the problem....in order to know the problem you must ASK questions!

What do you like most about your job?
Are you interested in multiple income sources?
Are you happy with your current service provider?

II.) Listen
Then you listen. That's why you were given two ears and one mouth! Just by asking the right questions you will begin to understand your prospects needs.

Oh, so you enjoy meeting new people? Me too! I meet new people all the time in the business I'm in...
Oh, so you wish you made more money? I felt the same way before I got into the business I'm in....I think I can help you with that

2.) I'm not selling, I'm sharing!

That's right ladies and gentlemen! Contrary to your belief, you are not in business to sell. You're in business to share and serve. The primary function of all profitable businesses, regardless of industry, is to fulfill a need. And once you wrap your mind around the fact that you're sharing and not selling you will go so much further in endeavors!

Check out this video on communication dynamics, learn how to effectively communicate with prospects on their level by learning their behavior styles.

Unlock Your Greatness - Tip #3

We are now at Tip #3 in our series "Unlock Your Greatness"

And this tip is one that is near and dear to my heart.....

Begin Your Own Personal Empowerment Regimen

This is so important ladies and gentlemen. Who do you call when your feeling down? Need advice? Or need a pick me up?

As important as it is to have a solid circle, it is even more important to be a solid individual. And creating your own Personal Empowerment Regimen enables you begin and sustain your self development. You don't want to always be the friend with issues and problems. Lets begin solving some of those issues and problems independently. Your never too old to learn and your never to young to teach! When I discovered this method it literally transformed my life. I can't go a day with out my "Me Time"!

In this regimen consistency is pertinent. You don't want to do it only when something goes wrong. Find the time of day that is best for you. I am a morning person, so my "Me Time" is in the morning, at least one hour. During this time I pray, read a book and listen to my favorite speakers.

If your not a morning person, take away some of your "Ear Bubblegum Time" during the day.... Confused?? Lets break it down....Bubblegum is classified as a food, but it doesn't fill you up or nourish your body. Your ears are one of the most important gateways to your mind. With our ears we hear an abundance of things. Of those things, the things that don't nourish our minds or enhance our lives are synonymous to bubblegum (i.e. watching tv, listening to the radio, surfing the net).

Lets take some time from those things and add it to your "Me Time". If your addicted to the Bubblegum Moments- ween yourself off slowly until you get one hour per day to dedicate to your Personal Empowerment.

Listen to one of my favorite speakers, Les Brown:

::| Building A Better YOU |::

A major part of building a better you and unlocking your greatness is being financially literate. I know many self-help sites or similar genres primarily focus on the mental and spiritual aspects of your health, but being financially competent is just as important as exercising daily!

One of the worst things I've seen is for someone to be prepared in every aspect of their life - be presented with an awesome opportunity (i.e. Job, ) and be disqualified due to having poor financial health (i.e.Bad Credit, No Credit, etc.).

Did you know that you could receive your credit report annually for free? Yes you can!

Here some tips and tidbits on building your credit from scratch!

9 Ways To Build A Killer Credit Score
By Liz Pulliam Weston
Establishing a good credit history has never been as important as it is today.
It's not just that you'll need good credit to get decent rates when you're ready to buy a home or a car. Your credit history can determine whether you get a good job, a decent apartment, a deal on your cell phone and reasonable rates on insurance. One seemingly minor misstep -- a late payment, maxing out your credit cards -- can haunt you for years.
If you're just starting out, you have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a credit history the right way. Here's what to do and what to avoid.

Check your credit report

You'll first want to see what, if anything, lenders are saying about you. That kind of information is contained in your credit report at each of the three major bureaus: Equifax,Experian and Trans Union. You're entitled to a free annual look at your reports from AnnualCreditReport.com.
Credit reports are used to create your credit scores, the three-digit numbers that lenders typically use to gauge your creditworthiness. Lenders also may look at the reports themselves, as may the landlords, employers, insurers and utility companies who use credit to evaluate applicants.
Can you have a credit report if you've never had credit? Maybe.
Somebody else's information could be mixed in with your report, either through a credit bureau mistake or because of identity theft; i.e. someone using your personal information to open bogus accounts.
If that's happened to you, you'll need to clean up your credit report before trying to apply for new accounts. The Federal Trade Commission's identity-theft site has information that can help.

Establish checking and savings accounts

Here's a basic step that's sometimes overlooked by people seeking credit. Lenders see bank accounts as signs of stability.
Opening checking and savings accounts is also one of the few things you can do as a minor to start building a financial history. While you can't get a credit card in your own name until you're 18 and can be legally held to a contract, many banks have no problem letting you open an account.
If your bank balks, look around for another bank or consider opening a joint account with an adult.

Understand the basics of credit scoring

You need to know that the two most important factors in your scores are:
  • Whether you pay your bills on time.
  • How much of your available credit you actually use.
It's essential that you pay all your bills on time, all the time. Set up automatic payments or reminder systems so that you're never, ever late. All it takes is a single missed payment to trash your credit scores -- and it can take seven years for the effects to completely disappear.
You also don't want to max out any of your credit cards, or even get close. Keeping your credit use to less than 30% of your credit limits (10% is better) will help you get the best possible credit scores -- and should help keep you from getting over your head in debt, as well.
Finally, you don't need to carry a balance on a credit card to have good credit scores. Paying your bill in full each month is the best way to keep your finances in shape and build your credit at the same time.

Piggyback on someone else's good credit

The fastest way to establish a credit history can be to "borrow" another's record, either by being added to a credit card as a joint account holder or by getting someone to co-sign a loan for you.
Having a co-signer can allow you to qualify for loans you might not otherwise get. The loan will show up on your credit report and, if you pay it off responsibly, will help boost your credit scores.
If you default, however, you won't be the only one who suffers. The co-signer has basically promised to make good on this account, so any delinquencies will show up on her credit report as well.
Being added as a joint account holder also has its risks, for you as well as the person giving you access to the card.
If your father adds you to his credit card, for example, his history with that account can be imported to your credit bureau file, giving you an instant credit record. If he has handled the account well, that reflects well on you. But if he hasn't, his mistakes would also become yours. You become responsible for any debt on the card, and it's difficult to get your name removed. Any late payments or other problems could make it harder for you to get future credit than if you'd established your history without help.
Being added as an authorized user to a credit card will no longer help you build a credit history. After credit-repair companies took advantage of the system and lenders protested, score-keeping companies are ignoring authorized-user information.

Apply for credit while you're a college student

Credit experts used to warn college students away from those booths set up on campus by credit card lenders -- the ones that promise free stuff for signing up. It turns out, however, that there's no easier time to get a card than while you're a college student, said Gerri Detweiler, author of "The Ultimate Credit Handbook."
Lenders are willing to take risks with you that they won't once you graduate, probably because they know that your parents' willingness to bail you out will end once you get your sheepskin.
You still have to exercise some caution, though. Look for a card with a low or nonexistent annual fee and low interest rates. For now, just get one: Opening a slew of credit accounts in a short period of time can make you look like a risky customer. Later, you'll want more than one card.

Apply for a secured credit card

If you can't get a regular credit card, apply for the secured version. These require you to deposit money with a lender; your credit limit is usually equal to the deposit.
Screen your card issuer carefully. To be frank, there are a lot of bad guys in this particular niche of the credit world. Some charge outrageous application or annual fees and punitively high interest rates.
Your credit union, if you have one, is a good place to look for a secured card. You can also check Credit.comCardTrak.com or Bankrate.com'slist of secured credit card issuers.
Ideally, the card you pick would:
  • Have no application fee and a low annual fee
  • Convert to a regular, unsecured credit card after 12 to 18 months of on-time payments
  • Be reported to all three credit bureaus.
If the issuer doesn't report to the credit bureaus, the card won't help build your credit history.

Get a store card

Gas companies and department stores that issue charge cards typically use finance companies, rather than major banks, to handle the transactions. These cards don't do as much for your credit scores as a bank card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, etc.), but they're usually easier to get.
Again, don't go overboard. One or two of these cards is enough.

Get an installment loan

To get the best credit scores, you need a mix of different credit types, including revolving accounts (credit cards, lines of credit) and installment accounts (auto loans, personal loans, mortgages).
Once you've had and used plastic responsibly for a year or so, consider applying for a small installment loan from your credit union or bank. Keeping the duration short -- no more than a year or two -- will help you build credit while limiting the amount of interest you pay.

Use revolving accounts lightly but regularly

For credit scores to be generated, you have to have had credit for at least six months, with at least one of your accounts updated in the past six months.
Using your cards regularly should ensure that your report is updated regularly. It also will keep the lender interested in you as a customer. If you get a credit card and never use it, the issuer could cancel the account.
Just remember the credit tips I mentioned earlier:
  • Don't charge more than 30% of the card's limit.
  • Don't charge more than you can pay off in a month. You don't have to pay interest on a credit card to get good credit scores. It's much smarter to pay off your credit cards in full each month.
  • Make sure you pay the bill, and all your other bills, on time.

::| Self Talk |::

Hi friends!

Today, I'm going to share with you one of the most amazing tools that I use to prepare my mind for success. I know some of you are like- "Why do you prepare your mind for success?". And the answer is two-fold.

1.) Your best thinking got you into your current state of existence.
2.) You can only go as far as your mind can comprehend.

Which means we need to expand our minds and condition them to achieve and maintain our new goals.

Positive affirmations are one of the most powerful tools you can incorporate into your daily life. After all, my favorite book says:

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue" Proverbs 18:21

Think of how many times you told yourself that you couldn't, consequently, you didn't. As hard as it maybe, I challenge you to take the word "can't" out of your vocabulary and replace it with "How Can I"....

EXAMPLE:
"I can't run a marathon." (negative)
"How can I run a marathon?" (positive)

Remember, you are created to win, so the instant you begin to focus on something, your mind begins to subconsciously work toward it. Therefore, if you choose to focus on the negative, the "I can'ts, I won'ts, etc" your mind starts working on proving you right.

If you choose to use the positive example "How can I", your mind starts thinking of ways for you to succeed and achieve your goal. Your mind might begin to cultivate thoughts like "Maybe if I start jogging in the morning..." or "maybe if I change my diet.." or "maybe if I connect with some people that have done this already" -

Remember that your mind is the most powerful tool you have and if you begin to plant positive seeds, you will achieve positive things!

Listen to the audio above and do the exercise from one of the greatest motivational speakers==> Zig Ziglar.

Zig Ziglar's Talk to Yourself Exercise
Step #1-Get a cassette recorder and in the first-person, present tense, record with passion and enthusiasm paragraphs A, B, C and D. For thirty days listen to this recording first thing in the morning and last thing at night. If no recorder is available, stand up straight in front of a mirror, square your shoulders, look yourself in the eye and read outloud paragraphs A, B, C. D.

A. "I, ___________________, am an honest, intelligent, organized, responsible, committed, teachable person who is sober, loyal, and clearly understands that regardless of who signs my paycheck I am self-employed. I am an optimistic, punctual, enthusiastic, goal-setting, smart working, self starter who is disciplined, focused, dependable, persistent, positive thinker. I am an energetic team player who appreciates the opportunity my company and the free enterprise system offers me. I am thrifty with the company's resources and apply common sense to my daily tasks. I take honest pride in my competence and appearance and am motivated to be and do my best so that my healthy self-image will remain on solid ground. These are the qualities which enable me to manage myself and help give me employment security in a no-job-security world.

B. I, ___________________, am a compassionate, respectful, encourager who is a considerate, generous, gentle, patient, caring, sensitive, personable, attentive, fun-loving person. I am supportive, giving and forgiving, clean, kind, unselfish, affectionate, loving, family-oriented human being and I am sincere and open-minded good listener and good finder who is trustworthy. These are the qualities which enable me to build good relationships with my associates, neighbors, mate and family.

C. "I am a person of integrity , with the faith and wisdom to know what I should do and the courage and convictions to follow through. I have the vision to manage myself and to lead others. I am authoritative, confident, and humbly grateful for the opportunity life offers me. I am fair, flexible, resourceful, creative, knowledgeable, decisive and an extra-miler with a servant's attitude who communcicates well with others. I am a consistent, pragmatic teacher with character and a finely-tuned sense of humor. I am an honorable person and am balanced in my personal, family and business life, have a passion for being, doing and learning more today so I can be and do more tomorrow.

D. "These are the qualities of the winner I was born to be and I am fully committed to developing these marvelous qualities with which I have been entrusted. Tonight I'm going to sleep wonderfully well. I will dream powerful, positive dreams. I will awaken energized and refreshed; tomorrow's going to be magnificent and my future is unlimited. Recognizing, claiming and developing these qualities which I already have gives me a legitimate chance to be happier, healthier, more prosperous, more secure, have more friends, greater peace of mind, better family relationships and legitimate hope that the future will be even better."

Repeat the process the next morning and close by saying, "These are the qualities of the winner I was born to be and I will develop and use these qualities to achieve my worthy objectives. Today is a brand-new day and it's mine to use in marvelously productive way."

After 30 days, add the next step:

Choose your strongest quality and the one you feel needs the most work. Example: Strongest-honest. needs mote work-organized. On a separate 3x5 card, print "I, _____________, am a completely honest person and every day I am getting better and better organized." Keep this 3/x5 card handy and read it out loud if possible at every opportunity for one week. Repeat the process with the second strongest quality and the second one which needs the most work. Do this until you've completed the entire list. Periodically look yourself in the eye as you read this card or listen to the recording. After thirty days of the following this procedure, re-record the message on the card. You will be stunned at the change in your voice which will reflect the changes in your life. Use this self-talk procedure as long as you want to get more of the things money will buy and all the things money won't buy.

NOTE: Because of some painful experience in the past (betrayal, abuse, etc.), there might be a word or two which brings back unpleasant memories (example: discipline). Eliminate the word or substitute another word.

::| Unlock Your Greatness - Tip #2 |::

Hi Friends!

We're 5 days into the New Year....How are you doing with your resolution? Are you still enthused, energetic and dedicated?

If you are...AWESOME! If not, your normal. Most people begin to slowly lose momentum from now until the 15th of January. By the 15th most resolutions have been aborted. But that doesn't have to be you. Matter-of-fact, It's not going to be you because I'm going to give you Tip #2 to Unlock Your Greatness.

Re-visit Your Goal....Daily

Basically, since you've already written your goal out, your half way there. It is said that repetition is the best teacher. And that is believed because humans are creatures of habit. Every behavior is a learned behavior. So by constantly repeating or reminding your mind of your goal- that goal will eventually become embedded in your mind. And your mind will begin to subconsciously work toward it.

sub·con·scious (sb-knshs)
adj.
Not wholly conscious; partially or imperfectly conscious: subconscious perceptions.
n.
The part of the mind below the level of conscious perception. Often used with the
.

Believe it or not, you were made to win! You were created to succeed. Your mind subcountiously works toward the things you think of the most. Have you ever heard the saying "You are what you eat"? Well actually, you are and you possess what you think of the most! Some of your best thinking got you to where you are today. Now whether that is a good or bad place, you did it!

Maybe the reason you haven't achieved your goal yet is because you haven't focused on it enough. My favorite book says:

"As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." - Proverbs 23:7

What are you? And what have you been telling you, about yourself? Whatever it is, you can change it! By changing the way you think. After all, you weren't born with that mentality. You were taught it. So now, you can learn a better way to think. And it begins with your written goals and aspirations.
"If they think they can, they will." -Virgil

A major part of having good success is being healthy. A greater you is a healthier you! My favorite book says:

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Heart Disease

What Is Heart Disease?
“Heart Disease” is a term that can refer to a variety of ailments ranging from heart attacks, chest pain (angina), congestive heart failure (CHF), arrhythmias (irregular, fast, or slow heart beat), and etc. For the purposes of this article, we will discuss Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) which is the number one killer of both men and women in the United States.
What Is Coronary Artery Disease?
CAD is caused by the progressive thickening of the inside walls of the coronary arteries, the small blood vessels that supply blood to the heart muscle. This thickening, referred to as arteriosclerosis, narrows the space through which blood can flow and decreases the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the heart. A heart attack occurs when there is complete blockage of blood flow to a portion of the heart muscle.
Heart Disease and African American Women
According to noted cardiologist Dr. Richard Allen Williams, “heart disease has long been considered a disorder which principally affects men in our society; consideration of the occurrence of heart attacks in females has been largely been an afterthought.”
We now know that every woman should be concerned about heart disease. It is the number one killer of American women and it is estimated that 370,000 women in the United States die from heart disease each year.
Dr. Williams notes that African American women are especially affected by CAD in a negative manner. They have a higher mortality and morbidity than African American men and White women under the age of 55. In the age group 25-44, African American women have 2.5 times the coronary heart disease mortality risk of white women.
Symptoms
  • The symptoms of CAD vary from individual to individual. Symptoms can include:
  • Chest pain (angina)
  • Shortness of breath with exertion (may be an early sign of CAD).
  • Chest heaviness, tightness, or pressure.
Are You At Risk?
Risk factors are habits or traits that make a person more likely to develop a disease. The more risk factors you have, the greater your risk for development of disease. Heart disease risk factors include:
  • Cigarette smoking
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Overweight
  • Physical Inactivity
  • Diabetes
  • Family history of heart disease
Dr. Williams points out that cigarette smoking and obesity represent risk factors which have been documented to increase cardiovascular disease in black women. Diabetes is of particular concern in black women as a risk factor; the death rate among black diabetics is 2.5 times higher that in diabetic whites.
What Can I Do?
Making lifestyle changes to reduce your risk factors for heart disease is one of the best thing you can do to improve the “health” of your heart. Consider taking the following steps:
  • Make an appointment with your doctor for a physical exam (if you have not had one recently).
  • Discuss your risk factors for heart disease with your doctor.
  • Make a plan to reduce any risk factors that you may have.
  • Continue (or start) to get regular aerobic exercise.
  • Eat a sensible, balanced diet.

Happy New Year Friends!!

The topic of discussion to today is Unlocking YOUR Greatness! And regardless of who said you couldn't- whether it was your mother, your father, a teacher or whether YOU told yourself you couldn't- I want to tell you that you CAN.

The keys to greatness are within you. And the purpose of this blog is to help you... help YOU...while providing insight into some things that interest me. People constantly tell me that I am an intriguing person and ask me questions about life- therefore I want to give to you what is within me.

So many times we as people see the potential, capabilities and talents that other people possess. But we never take a good close look into the mirror and realize that the same God that created them also created us. Which means that we are just as talented! We are just as capable! But we need to take that first step.

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step"
                                                                                                  -Confucious

and you taking the time to out of your busy day to read this blog is your first step!

I Am Theoria and my gifting lies in the area of exhortation. I help people see who they are, unlock their potential and achieve greatness! And if you allow me, I will do the same for you.

Over the course of the next year I am going to share with you some of the secret techniques used by successful people. But you first have to realize that success is not a mindset, it is a state of mind. Therefore you have to condition your mind to be successful. Which means you may have to change your beliefs....get rid of those negative thoughts....stop associating with negative people. The keyword is change! One of my favorite quotes is

"Only two things remain constant in life...Death and Change"

considering the affects of the first one (death), change doesn't seem that bad!

With today being the first day of the New Year I am going to give you your first success tip:

Tip #1
Write down your goals.

Writing is such an important task.It gives our mind a concrete state to work toward and forces us to VISUALIZE what we want.

Here are the four rules to writing down your goals that I got from The Goal Setting Guide:

1. Write your goal in the positive.
Work for what you want, not for what you want to leave behind. Part of the reason why we write down and examine our goals is to create a set of instructions for our subconscious mind to carry out. Your subconscious mind is a very efficient tool, it can not determine right from wrong and it does not judge. It's only function is to carry out its instructions. The more positive instructions you give it, the more positive results you will get.

Thinking positively in everyday life will also help in your growth as a human being. Don't limit it to goal setting.

2. Write your goals out in complete detail.Instead of writing "A new home," write "A 4,000 square foot contemporary with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and a view of the mountain on 20 acres of land". Once again we are giving the subconscious mind a detailed set of instructions to work on. The more information you give it, the more clear the final outcome becomes. The more precise the outcome, the more efficient the subconscious mind can become.

Can you close your eyes and visualize the home I described above? Walk around the house. Stand on the porch off the master bedroom and see the fog lifting off the mountain. Look down at the garden full of tomatoes, green beans and cucumbers. And off to the right is the other garden full of a mums, carnations and roses. Can you see it? So can your subconscious mind.

3. Write in present tense.Write your goals down in the present tense. This is because the unconscious mind chooses a path of least resistance. If you write, "I will be slim" the unconscious mind does nothing thinking that the will be may be postponed until later.
A friend had a business, which was losing money. He set his goal to break even the next month. Every month the next month would come and be this month so his goal would be true to break even the next month, which would never come. Eventually he changed his goal to, "I am breaking even this month." That very month he broke even for the first time.

Write them in present tense, first person, as if they are currently true.

4. Re-write your goals. When the words are written and then repeatedly re-written they have maximum impact. So don't be content with a first draft. Write down your goal. Then rephrase it, compact it, add motivating adjectives, make it pithy. A week later you may want to adjust it again. Keep on fine-tuning.

Writing your goals down is the first step to make the goals more real. Somehow having things in writing really makes them seem more important to most people. It will also make it easier to make the plans needed to reach your goals if you have something in writing.

What are some of your goals?
 My favorite book says
"Write the vision, make it plain....that he may run that reads it"
